Thanks for visiting us online! Our 2-hour Rancho Tour takes students back in time to 1880s life on a California rancho. Students will learn about the Leonis family history, the importance of feeding and caring for farm animals, food preparation by grinding corn and making tortillas, and try their hand at roping a "steer". They will enter the blacksmith shop and discuss its importance, make a brand for themselves and pump water from the well. They will be guided through period wagons, barn and buildings and the Leonis Adobe built in 1844. Students will see first-hand the challenges families faced without electricity or running water. At the end of the tour, fresh corn tortillas with hand churned butter will be served and students are encouraged to visit our gift shop. Teacher's, please fill out the form below to request a School Rancho Tour. Rancho Tours are geared specifically for students in first through fifth grades.
