About
The Leonis Adobe Museum is the 19th century residence and ranch of French Basque immigrant, Miguel Leonis, and his Native American wife, Espiritu Chijulla. As Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument #1, we strive to share the rich and culturally diverse history of California through our historic adobe structure and the fascinating story of the Leonis family.
Our Mission
The Leonis Adobe Museum is a living history museum and Historic-Cultural Monument dedicated to preserving and sharing 1880s ranch life and promoting the history of early California through education and community outreach.
As a 501(c)(3) non-profit museum and stewards of Los Angeles’ first Historic-Cultural Monument, the core of our mission is to provide history that is accessible through engagement and educational programming.
